Tackling financial loss in government

INTEC would like to say a big thank you to all the delegates that we met at the recent tackling financial loss in government (6th February, London). The day was packed with very informative speakers and a lot was said about fraud in the public sector and the consolidation of debt across each Local Authority.

The key report of the day was the “Eliminating Public Sector Fraud Report” issued by the cabinet office and the NFA. (Download your copy below)

“Public sector fraud is much more than benefit cheats and tax evaders!”

INTEC are working with all our customers looking to move into other investigation areas such as corporate fraud, tenancy fraud and procurement fraud. The report states that in each year;

  • £2.4bn is lost of procurement fraud.
  • £515m is lost to grant fraud.
  • £329m is lost to payroll and recruitment fraud.
  • £165m is lost in NHS patient charge fraud.

InCase Intelligence can help your organisation with any of the above areas.

The second major discussion was around a collaborative approach to debt collection. It’s widely recognised that each local authority has to look closely at the way they recover debt and streamline the process where possible. A single approach to debt collection is the way forward and the day highlighted that this approach will not only save your authority money and resources but ultimately lead to higher recovery rates across the authority.
